Vịnh Vĩnh Hy
Vinh Hy Bay (Vịnh Vĩnh Hy) lies in Vinh Hai commune, Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam, at about 11°43'0" N, 109°12'10" E[1]. It is enclosed on three sides, east, west and north, by mountains, with the peak of Nui Chua rising 1,040 m to the west; the Lo O stream flows into it year round[1]. Vietnamese Wikipedia lists the bay's marine life as including grouper, snapper, mackerel, tuna, shrimp, crab and squid, and records that provincial road DT702 passes through the area[1].
The bay was recognised as a national scenic site (di tich quoc gia danh lam thang canh) on 7 January 2020, by Decision 44/QĐ-BVHTTDL of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism[1]. It lies inside Nui Chua National Park, described by the national newspaper Nhan Dan as a UNESCO biosphere reserve[2]. The Amanoi resort, operated by Aman Resorts, has stood on the bay inside the park since 2013[4][5].
Since 1 July 2025 the bay has been part of Vinh Hai commune, formed that day by merging the former communes of Nhon Hai, Thanh Hai and Vinh Hai, with a combined natural area of more than 16,143 ha and a population of 9,582 households, or 36,034 people[2].
Geography
Vinh Hy Bay lies at about 11°43'0" N, 109°12'10" E, on Vietnamese Wikipedia's reckoning[1], close to the coordinate of about 11.72° N, 109.20° E recorded on Wikidata for the locality[6]. Vietnamese Wikipedia’s article on the national park instead names the highest point of the massif as Cô Tuy, at 1,039 m[7].
The fishing village on the bay's shore was first settled from the eighteenth century by migrants from other parts of central Vietnam who followed the Nguyen lords south[1]. Resort, boats and economy
The Amanoi resort, operated by Aman Resorts, has stood on the bay inside Nui Chua National Park since 2013[5]; the resort's own site gives its location as Vinh Hy village in Vinh Hai commune, and its distance from Cam Ranh airport as a 75-minute drive[4]. A boat association operating from the fishing village runs coral-viewing and snorkelling trips; in 2026 a 45-minute coral-viewing trip was priced at 80,000 to 100,000 VND for an adult, and a 20,000 VND per person conservation fee was collected for Nui Chua National Park[3].
Nhan Dan reported the new Vinh Hai commune's fishing fleet at 402 boats totalling 75,826 CV of engine power, alongside 229 facilities producing high-quality aquaculture seed stock[2].
